Banishing! Part One
Banishing...
This word alone implies something nasty that you wish to go away for good. Right?
banish
ˈbanɪʃ/
verb
gerund or present participle: banishing
- send (someone) away from a country or place as an official punishment.
"a number of people were banished to Siberia for political crimes"
synonyms: exile, expel, deport, eject, expatriate, extradite, repatriate, transport; More
- get rid of (something unwanted).
- In the world of magick, the act of banishing is one of the most common and frequently used practices. Whether it is a person, a state of mind or an unfamiliar and unpleasant entity, banishing is necessary at some point to move forward with your desired intention or simply just to clear the space of unwanted, negative energy.
- To some, banishing may sound like a word with dark connotations. This could not be farther from the truth, in most instances. Magick is a craft that is neither good nor bad. It is simply the practitioner that may have good or bad intentions towards a particular person, place or thing. Banishing is simply the directing of energy to send something/one away. Perhaps the intensity of that desire may be increased due to the past relationship or circumstances surrounding it.
- Many of us, I am sure have contemplated this notion at some point in our lives We all know of that horrible neighbor who makes life a living hell for others that you wish would just move out already. Or the lurking stalker who watches you on your daily commute with a gaze that makes you simply want to dial 911. Then at times, it's not even a person; it's a feeling or a bad habit that you just can't seem to break. Unfortunately some of the things we wish to be removed from our lives are a bit more serious. Maybe there is a person who is trying to meddle in your romantic relationships or has even gone to extremes to cause you physical harm. While this is definitely not something you should take lightly, you can begin to take matters into your own hands (literally).
- Going back into my past, I wish I had known about this method much earlier in life. They say that hindsight is 20/20 and so when I think of my younger years, I wonder if this was something that had been done to me. I like to think of the happenings of my life as fate or as my Creator removing me (sometimes unknowingly) from dangerous situations that can only escalate and cause more harm than good to myself and/or others. However, looking back, there are a few events that seem quite supernatural that make me wonder, "what if?"
- In this part, I am going to list just one of the ways that you can rid yourself of whatever is getting in your way and give you a sense of having your power back. There is nothing worse in my opinion than feeling powerless to someone else or to an unknown source of bad vibes.
- Method # 1 - Fire Banishing
-
- Items needed:
- Pen
- Paper
- Fireproof dish or bowl
- Banishing Oil (either purchased or self made)
- Lighter or matches
- Begin by writing the name of the person/s, the negative emotion, bad habit or limiting beliefs that you wish to banish from your life.
- Use the banishing oil at this point to dress the paper with.
- Start focusing intently on whatever this is that you would like to banish and bring them/it to mind as clearly as possible for a few minutes.
- Carefully light the paper on fire and drop it into the bowl.
- As it burns, clearly imagine the person or thing leaving your life for good.
- Once it has burned, you should dispose of the ashes by either burying it in the earth or throwing it into a flowing stream of water far away from your home. You can also toss into the wind on a windy day and ask that the wind take it far away from you with harm to none.
